Food, Olivia

Mandala

Intricacy,
patience,
precision,
perfection,

all achieved through

days,
weeks,
months,
years,

of time
and energy

all for it to be destroyed
in seconds.

One may consider it
a waste of time.
Another might say
it's pointless.
Some, though, find it
symbolic
of something many people
can't understand or
simply don't want to understand:

impermanence.

Everything that exists will eventually be
nonexistent.
We all have our awarded time,
but that time does not last forever.

And when it does come to an end
we should not be
sad,
angry,
or even surprised

because obsession leads to suffering.

We must be attached to things
in a way that doesn't destroy us
when they,
inevitably,
leave.

The mastering of proper attachment
begins with the
"time-wasting",
"pointless",
yet "symbolic"
mandala.
